Lyrics Looking for a Man
I take it as it comes
just like everybody else
I chase it when it runs
Just like a dog with no sense
I might be just a little bit smarter
Than when I was just a kid
But I’m holdin’ out on growing up
I don’t really understand
I’m looking for a little something
I saw when I was just a kid
And I’m hoping that it’s in here
somewhere
I don’t really understand
I’m looking for a man
I look into the water sometimes
And try to find the light
I’m hoping that my father’s somewhere
Behind my own eyes
He left when I was barely talking
I tried to take it like a man
But I’ve felt it every shoe I’ve walked in
I don’t really understand
I’m looking for a little something
I saw when I was just a kid
And I’m hoping that it’s in here somewhere
I don’t really understand
I’m looking for a man
I’m bent but I am far from broken
And I’ve got the healing in my hands
I pray but it is just a token
Of the strength inside a man.
I’m looking for a man
And I’m hoping that it’s in here somewhere
I don’t really understand
I’m looking for a man
A song about introspection and growing up. Finding peace with the things that are bent and leaving behind the things that are broken. I had an intense spiritual experience when I was 13 that has always stayed with me. A true sense of peace and belonging and above all, a sense of being loved. Very powerful. |
